THE IMPORTANCE OF THE LTA
NOTABLE ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDE
Each Director brings a skill set with them that contributes to the cohesiveness of the Board of Directors of the LTA, and invests an phenomenal amount of hours towards protecting the Lake and its environment. Aside from a quick mention at the Annual General Meeting, they are not recognized for all the hours of work invested towards protecting the legacy of Lac Tremblant. Their efforts, however, do not go unrecognized, as the Lake would not be what it is, without their presence.
Every year, Jake Gratton and his team play a central role in preparing the Lake for the summer. They remove all winter debris, fallen trees, lost docks, etc. This process ensures that when summer arrives (with the tourists andd added activity), the lake is pristine, perfect, and ready to enjoy. Then each Fall, the team prepares the lake for the Winter (which is no small feat!).
In 2006-2007, the LTA fought and won an injunction so there would be no commercial helicopter activity on Lake Tremblant.
Between 2006 and 2010, the LTA worked with the Ville to create the Code environnemental et de courtoisie nautique. Such a code now exists for each of the lakes in the Mont-Tremblant area; We succeeded in having one common boat launch at the PLTN Marina.
In 2021, a Deed of Servitude was signed with the LAGO project to prevent another buoy parking lot "a la ABMLT in the South Bay of Lac Tremblant", and to limit the amount of docks and boats the commercial project was allowed to have on the lake.
Continuously harmoniously working with the Ville and sporting events (such as Ironman) on lac Tremblant;
Hosting community events such as Polo on Ice, and then Jazz on Lac Tremblant, and Les Dames du Lac version 1 and version 2, (to ensure safety during Covid), annual Regattas that unite the whole neighbouring community, a picnic or BBQ at the end of the AGMS...
Harmoniously working with residents, non-residents, Muni, Provincial, SEPAQ, and Federal government departments on the annual Round the Table meetings in the Spring on yearly issues and challenges to the lake;
Conducting 5 year studies with the Ville and a team of biologists to ensure continuous quality of the water, and monitoring invasive as well as indigenous plant life in the lake and on its shores.
The Centre Nautique Pierre Plouffe has organized annual outings with groups of students out on the lake, teaching them at a young age how to manage and care for water.
The Board and the Association has created a coalition of the 14 lake associations representing 16 lakes in the Tremblant area. We support each other with common issues, experiences, challenges, resources, such as: the Bell Tower, the GreyRocks project known as VIVO, mining claims activities , false claims by real estate agents for access to lakes. We now have a seat at the table on the Comité des Lacs with the Ville de Mont-Tremblant. That's a major accomplishment!
The Importance of the Lake Association
The Lac Tremblant Association is for all residents of Ville de Mont-Tremblant and Municipalité de Lac-Tremblant-Nord, whether you are an individual, a family or a business owner. We strive to regroup all residents who believe that the protection of Lac Tremblant’s pristine environment is crucial to our community.
This page is created to highlight the often overlooked accomplishments of the LTA, and the hard work that every board member and volunteer contributes towards protecting the legacy of Lake Tremblant.
The importance and influence of lake associations is often underestimated. From environmental conservation to community engagement, the LTA has played a vital role in preserving the natural beauty and cultural significance of our lake, for generations to come.
Noteworthy accomplishments that helps us preserve the delicate ecosystem of Lake Tremblant includes:
Working tirelessly to monitor water quality. Do you know many cottagers still draw drinking water straight from the lake? LTA routinely tests the water and works with environmentalists to determine best practices to implement for our lake, in balance with the needs of our members;
Effectively serving as stewards of the environment, cooperating with other relevant stakeholders and governing bodies who work tirelessly to ensure the health of the Lake Tremblant, and the legacy it stands for. The dedicated efforts of our association helps protects the Lake from the risks posed by real estate developers, invasive species, erosion and pollution;
Protecting the cultural heritage (such as the B&T) and cultural significance of the Lake, by working closely with residents, local government, and relevant stakeholders. As a result, members of the LTA often serve as key advocates for preservation and restoration efforts, which includes preserving valuable landmarks and traditions for future generations;
Promoting community engagement, by facilitating outreach and education programs that encourage local participation in conservation effort. This reinforces the sense of community and pride around the preservation of the Lake.
